If you are a police officer, first responder, veteran, member of the armed forces, or work in the criminal justice system- you know the stigma that follows when all you want is to seek support to manage daily stress. I am here for you, I can provide solidarity and support as I have been a member of law enforcement and can understand, first hand, how difficult it might be to find a therapist who knows how to listen without judgment. Take the first step and reach out!
I pursued my career in marriage and family therapy to support men in their relationships. Men can be reluctant to seek therapy for a variety of reasons, but a predominant reason is the notion that therapy isn’t for men. My goal is to break down the stigma of seeking counseling. I work with men to help them discover solutions to personal and professional relationship challenges. I also offer support to female veterans and first responders, especially those who have experienced traumatic circumstances, and all people in stressful environments and positions who are making high-impact decisions.
My preferred approach is solution-focused therapy, an approach that served my clients well at the Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center where I interned for 12 months. I worked with veterans, their partners, and their families to develop strategies to manage the issues that brought them to therapy.
My goal is to address your immediate concerns and, within 8-12 sessions, equip you with tools that bring you peace of mind and resolve conflict within your relationships. But it doesn’t have to end there. I am available to work with you as new issues arise, or if you feel the need for a tune-up.
I am a native Houstonian and graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU), Houston Campus with a master’s degree in psychology. I retired from Houston METRO Transit Police as an Assistant Chief in 2020 and hold a master’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Houston-Downtown. My wife and I have been married for 10 years and enjoy traveling, live theater, cooking, trading puns, and spending time with my grandkids. I am an ardent Houston Astros fan and enjoy attending games whenever I can. I seldom miss a televised game and often enjoy a good cigar while watching.
